Great guy. Very talented, very deserving and satisfied and I'm tired enough to die now, thanks!

Martin Knelman makes some very good points about the current state of TIFF in today's Star. Worth a read.

FAME

is fleeting...and weird. Went to a movie about fleet(en)? fame at TIFF last night and took what's becoming usual seats on the main floor right side at the Elgin, a chunk of which is reserved for...you never know. Last night it turned out to be director Darren Aronofsky, his lovely fiancée Rachel Weisz, Oscar-buzzer Mickey Rourke, Evan Rachel Wood (and bf Marilyn Manson), Mark Ruffalo, Adrian Brody, Dominic Monaghan & Evangeline Lily (none in the film, just hangin') and some sort of Jeff Bridges/Julian Schnabel hybrid man.

Things got weird when the crowd in front of them immediately stood up and snapped photos of them...sitting down, until staff corralled them back to their seats and the love-in onstage began.

TIFF has this tendency to get everyone all wound up in celebrity-how can you not?, and The Wrestler was the perfect antidote to that, at least until we went outside and saw the mob outside the stage door.
